La ricezione e l'utilizzo di questi due modelli antagonisti nel granducato di Toscana, nel regno di Sardegna, nel regno di Napoli e nel ducato di Milano, è il problema affrontato in questo volume; i saggi in esso raccolti offrono un significativo contributo alla conoscenza delle categorie interpretative di diversa matrice culturale che vennero utilizzate e mobilitate per interpretare le esigenze e le contraddizioni emerse in precisi contesti socio-politici.
