En Corse, cet affrontement se traduit par l’opposition entre un gouvernement communal, soutenu par Gênes et un gouvernement seigneurial, soutenu par l’Aragon. Si l’idéologie communale génoise, fondée sur la haine du régime seigneurial, est bien éclairée par la documentation, les fondements idéologiques de l’alliance des seigneurs corses avec les souverains aragonais sont plus difficiles à cerner, et n’ont pas été étudiés jusqu’à ce jour.
